Post 348 AFTERMATH A TEST OF LOVE
I WAS A PATIENT OF DR. NAISBITT { RICHARD CHAMBERLAIN'S CHARACTER} IN THE MOVIE ABOUT DR. NAISBITT'S LIFE. HE WAS THE ONLY ONE OUT OF ALL OF THE MILITARY DOCTORS I WENT TO THAT WAS ABLE TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG AND CORRECT IT. IT IF HADN'T BEEN FOR HIS EXPERTISE AND KINDNESS AND KNOWING WHAT TO DO, WE WOULD NOT HAVE HAD A SON 30 YEARS AGO. RICHARD CHAMBERLAIN SHOWED GREAT COMPOSURE WITH HIS CHARACTER BECAUSE I SAW WHAT THE TRAGEDY DID TO DR. NAISBITT AND HIS FAMILY. THE MOVIE WAS A 5 STAR MOVIE FROM ONE WHO KNOWS MOVIES.
RICHARD CHAMBERLAIN--- THANK YOU FOR PORTRAYING A MAN THAT I HAVE THE UPMOST RESPECT FOR AND ALWAYS WILL. DR. NAISBITT WAS FANTASTIC TO ME AND MY FAMILY.
A WIFE OF A MILITARY CAREER MAN AND WE WERE STATIONED AT THE SAME UNIT WHERE THE MONSTERS WERE WHO DID THIS HORRIBLE THING TO DR. NAISBITT.

RE After They Were Famous 2005 Interview
Hello Pete, I am very new to this marvellous website to Richard, and I have just sent an email to the message board on Post 372 -Nov.18th "For Richard". Reading down the other e-mails that have been sent previously, I came across yours. You talked about the "After they were famous" 2005 interview with Richard that you sent dated June 23rd. If I have sent this e-mail correctly and you receive this, I would be grateful if you send me details about this recording. A great number of Richard's films and TV series have coincided with events that have happened for me. They have all become very important to me, especially as it has been a very sad year for me. I am the same age as Richard and appreciate all his work over the years. Regards Margaret

Vielleicht fühlt sich dann die eine oder andere wohler, ein bisschen mehr über unseren Liebling zu diskutieren. Martin ist als Thema natürlich genauso willkommen. For the english-speakers: Under the link above I founded a fen-group for German-speaking Richard- and Martin-Fans. Of course anyone from outside who understands enough German may join as well. Aloha!

Post 337 I hope Mr. Chamberlain will read this message...
Dear Mr. Chamberlain, 42 years ago I was born in Romania. I can remember how bad the life was. When I was about 18 years old I saw the first time "The thorn birds". I remeber - 8 hours watching videos....it was wonderfull. As we did't have the opportunity to travel, or to have contact to western civilisation - it was a kind of miracle to watch this film. I was dreaming...an dreaming...and I was feeling to die, as much as I was in love with you...and it was no possibility to hear, to see or to read about you. Now I am 42 years old and I am living in Germany. I would like to tell you: - You are a wonderfull person. May God give you a long and happy life.

Post 335 Richard Chamberlain Reviews
I recognize the name of the lady who posted the last message #334. She has written some wonderful reviews on Amazon.com for all of Richard Chamberlain's films, and narrated documentaries. I have only a few of Richard's modern pieces, and decided to read some reviews to see if I wanted to buy some of his older films. The reviews written by Judith D. Crocker always stood out to me, and interestingly enough, she inspired me to buy some. I even bought the reputed "stinker" called "Murder By Phone," because of her most fascinating and interesting review. Dr. Nat Bridger is a most fascinating character, and as she brought out, you enjoy him so much, you almost forget about the nutty script. Her Thorn Birds review called "He Crept Into My Heart and Nestled In My Soul," is almost as touching as the film itself. She even inspired me to buy the documentary of "Japan: Memoirs of A Secret Empire," and I hate documentaries. It is as good as she wrote. I even spent over $300.00 for Centennial because of her prose and praise of this fictional masterpiece. Her best review, in my opinion is for Richard Chamberlain's film, Casanova. The film is as wonderful and fascinating as she said it would be. I decided when I bought "The Swarm," and "Julius Caesar," that her reviews were like the "Sirens," who called to the adventurers in the Iliad and the Odyssey. They are irresistible! So, I challenge you to log onto Amazon.com through Darren's web page, so he gets credit for your purchases. It will cost you nothing, and it helps him with the financial maintainenance of this exceptional and informative website. Then bring up the Richard Chamberlain book, film, or documentary, that you want some information about, and scroll through the reviews, until you find the one's written by Judith D. Crocker. They are not only informative, and entertaining, but also very well-written. Her review of his book, "Shattered Love," called A Magnificent Actor - A Magnanimous Man, is right on. It's too bad, Richard Chamberlain doesn't know about them. They would be better than any vitamins he might be taking, and he would walk away feeling at least Ten Feet Tall. Good day, and keep up the marvelous work, Darren! Love to all the fans ! Wendy

Post 334 DR. KILDARE EPISODES AND RC APPEARANCES FROM THE 60'S
For the fans who are still hoping to find some of the Dr. Kildare episodes on DVD - I have a wonderful resource! I have in my possession approximately 80 episodes of this exceptionally enjoyable series. The episodes are old, and range in clarity, from excellent to very good to good and a few rare ones are fuzzy. The Tyger Tyger episode, which was the most popular, is as clear - as if it was taped yesterday. This comes in two part episodes - the romance, and the death. It is wonderful!! This resource also has RC's episode in Bourbon Street beat, Rescue B "High Explosives," and RC's Thriller episode, called "The Watcher." It is a great mystery. He also has RC's big interview in England with the Dave Clark Five, right after Kildare. RC was so charming and with tongue in cheek, explains why he left Kildare and came to England to study acting. I have been very pleased with the material I have received. If you are interested in any of these - e-mail: Dr. Ron Evans at Caseyguy@networksplus.net. He has "Shining Image," which was one of RC's favorite Kildare episodes, with Suzanne Pleshette - and this is the lady who received his first screen kiss - in that episode. It is not as clear as the Tyger episodes, but I love it!! Another great episode, is called "Music Hath Charms" - where the Drs. Gillespie and Kildare sing for the annual talent and variety show for Blair General Hospital. In this episode, Richard sings and dances up a storm. It is great!!! Another fabulous episode, though not as clear as I wish, is called "Love is a Sad Song" - In this episode Dr. Kildare falls in love with a female intern, named Dr. Lillith McGraw, and then wines and dines her, singing his famous song Hi Lilly - Hi Lo, while dancing with her cheek to cheek. Trust me, Dr. Kildare was really really good, and you get to see Richard Chamberlain in a marvelous series, and you will be amazed at how good he is as the very young, but charming Dr. Kildare. Richard is very critical of himself during these years, calling himself green and like a gazelle caught in a net. The fans didn't see it that way. I think he was sensational, like a glorious young gazelle, capturing the attention of a world wide audience each week, with his compassion, beauty, and charm. The DVD's are very reasonable - treat yourself to this amazing "FIND", and make up your own mind.

Dear Mr Chamberlain, Dear Richard, Happy Birthday and many Happy Returns of the Day! Thanks for all the beauty that you bring us, through the medium of your songs, your performance on stage, your starring on the white screen, on television.
You know, on the Belgian Radio, onweekly terms, we may enjoy a particular programme emitting but evergreens with a golden sound & soul, it is called 'De Stemkroeg' (litteral translation 'The Voice Bar'). Yesterday they played your interpretation of 'Georgia on My Mind' very good though I prefer your 'April Love'... You make feel all the splender of Spring with its freshly born energy, broadening the horizont for all good, interesting and loving things... a real moment for reveries.
Dear Richard, do have a nice day. Furthermore I wish you all the best and hapiness forever and ever after. Yours sincerely, big hug, Marie-Jeanne

I also have LOTS of "Dr. Kildare" memorabilia from the older 1940's MGM FILMS w/Lew Ayres and Lionel Barrymore for sale--includ. approx a dozen lobby cards in great shape, some stills, and threee large bound scrapbooks of Ayres' entire career (1920's-80's!). Post 315 Lifelong love of Richard Chamberlain
Richard became my idol when I was an eight year old diehard fan of Dr. Kildare. I had a dark-featured brother who our redneck uncles insisted looked like Ray Danton, which always propmted my parents to assert abot blond me: "erik looks like Richard Chamberlain!" I fantasized every night that I was in a hospital bed and that Dr. Kildare attended my bare butt with a penicillin shot--or with a spanking for being uncooperative with nurses! During his absence in London in the late 60's, I continued to fantasize and almost forgot him until my mid teens. I was mowing our lawn one summer day and noticed my father beckoning from his perch in our tree swing. When I ran over, he said, "Richard Chamberlain is being interviewed on the Bob Jones (University) radio station." (Yes, we were a fundamentalist family in Greenville, S.C.) I listened to that acquired British accent--and fell in love again. Was he my doctor or my big brother or my surrogate dad?
While in college in Chattanooga, TN, I wrote a Dr. Kildare Reprise scenario called "Smart Alex." Alex was Kildares' loopy half-British teenage moppet of a son, estranged from his dad due to Kildare's divorce from a British nurse he'd gotten pregnant in medical school. Alex is reluctant to reveal the nature of his visit: he has the same problem with a redneck Southern girl named Fanny Fuchs, whom he met in a bar where he sings at a job secured by (mom) Honey Kildare's London roommate, Angela....
Anyway, Angela sends Alex to America for his dad's help; the Kildares travel to Alabama to confront Fanny, who isn't cooperating...riots ensue, incited by Fanny's pig farmer dad...there's more, but I'll skip it. I never submitted it for publication.
I forgot about it, actually, attended Bob Jones University (ugh), married a good Christian girl, had two beautiful babies, became a Baptist church deacon, lost my parents, had an award-winning work career, and....had a secret I'd kept all my life...
I kept my secret because I was not homophobic but because I was convinced my problem was sinful. When my son graduated and my daughter married, however, I decided to liberate myself. My wife was no fool and had tolerated rumors for many years.
Three months ago, I left SC and moved to Northern VA, a career move, yes, but I am so free. I have no lover (yet), and my time is consumed by a publishing career and by hosting and managing the office weekends at a French B&B (Dan Aykroyd, Robert Duvall, and Patricia Cornwell visit often!), but am coming out...
My co-workers at the inn are suggesting a coming-out party for me. I may allow it one day. Richard gives me courage. Martin is so lucky. Surely he would understand he is not the only one with an UNshattered love for his mate! Erik in Washington, DC 1-26-05.

Post 301 CENTENNIAL
Richard, Just noticed your scheduled performance of "Scrooge" in Detroit this December. On Centennial in Colorado, I was your stand-in. Long beard and all. Still have the beard but gray now. It certainly was a long time ago and a lot of life has past by since those days. Hope all is well with you. My wife is the Dean of Fine, Performing & Communication Arts at Wayne State University near the Fischer Theatre in Detroit. We plan to be at the performance. Look forward to you again.
