Richard Chamberlain has also had a very successful theatre career, particularly with "Hamlet" in England in 1969, and more recently with "My Fair Lady" which went onto a European tour, and "The Sound Of Music."

In the summer of 1966, Richard Chamberlain played Tony in "West Side Story" in a summer stock tour. He appeared at Camden County Music Fair in Cherry Hill, NJ and Valley Forge Music Fair in Devon, PA , both suburbs of Philadelphia. He also performed at the Westbury Music Fair on Long Island that same summer.

Richard Chamberlain was also in Philadelphia for the month of October 1967 in pre-Broadway tryouts in "Holly Golightly" which underwent several transformations before it became "Breakfast At Tiffany's." It closed in New York in December 1967 after four preview performances. Every time they revamped it, it got worse.

More recently Richard returned to the theatre in "My Fair Lady" during 1993 touring at places such as Orlando and Detroit in April, Chicago and Washington in May, Boston in June, and Los Angeles in July, before opening on Broadway 9 December 1993. Richard also went on a successful European tour of "My Fair Lady" during 1995/96.

Richard joined the cast of "The Sound Of Music" in 1999 and the show went on a forty-week national tour around the U.S.A.

Richard has done two productions at the Berkshire Theatre Festival in 2000 and 2003, and will return this year for a one off play "Portrait Of A Young Artist."

Richard appeared in the play "Scrooge" which toured nationwide in the U.S.A. from October 26, 2004.

Richard is currently in the play "The Exorcist" July 2012.
