Because the NFL football over-ran, the "Touched By An Angel" episode featuring Richard Chamberlain was pre-empted for one week, and will now be shown on Sunday 15 October 2000 at 8:00pm ET/PT on CBS.

Richard will be guest starring in the first episode of season seven of the TV series "Touched By An Angel" which is scheduled to be broadcast in the U.S.A. on Sunday 08 October 2000 at 8:00pm ET/PT on CBS. The title of the episode is "The Face On The Bar Room Floor."

September 2000

Richard is currently filming a guest part on the American TV series "Touched By An Angel" which will be shown in the U.S.A. next month.

Touched By An Angel

"Touched By An Angel" stars Roma Downey as Monica, Della Reese as Tess, and John Dye as Andrew. As "Touched By An Angel" continues to soar, angels are dispatched from heaven to inspire people who are at a crossroads in their lives. Monica, an angel who at times still needs some guidance with her earthly assignments, reports to Tess, her tough, wise, and always loving supervisor. Joining them is Andrew, who, in addition to his duties as the Angel of Death, helps out as a caseworker on various assignments. The angels may not bring answers to every problem, but they always deliver a message of hope. "Touched By An Angel" is filmed in Salt Lake City (U.S.A.).

Filming starts on the big budget Hollywood film "The Bourne Identity" next month in Paris and Prague. Matt Damon plays the part originally played by Richard Chamberlain in the TV mini series. Franka Potente plays the role played by Jaclyn Smith. In the movie version, Matt Damon turns up riddled with bullet holes and a microchip embedded under his skin with numbers for a Swiss bank account. He may be a hired assassin but he has amnesia and can't remember. Franke Potente is a local girl he kidnaps because he can't remember how to drive, and they both try to escape from men who want the microchip.

The Shadow Of Greatness

Richard's next project will also be in the theatre. He will play the part of Allen Perry in the production of "The Shadow Of Greatness" at the Berkshire Theatre Festival in Stockbridge, Massachusetts (U.S.A) from 25 July to 12 August.

Preview night is the 25 July followed by the opening night on 26 July, and closing night is 12 August. There will be a matinee on Saturday's and Thursday's and ticket prices range from $22.00 to $36.00. The schedule is as follows:

April 2000

Richard's film "Ordeal In The Arctic" gets it's premiere showing on U.K. terrestrial TV on Sunday 30 April at 12:45am on ITV.

Between leaving "The Sound Of Music" when the show ends in late May 2000, and returning to do "The Shadow Of Greatness," Richard may squeeze in the filming of another TV movie.

The full-length British version of "The Slipper And The Rose" is released for the first time in the U.S.A. on the 25 April. It is available on VHS with a DVD version coming soon. To Purchase a copy click here!

Jim Caviezel, from the film "The Thin Red Line," will play the lead in a remake of "The Count of Monte Cristo." Jay Wolpert adapted Alexandre Dumas' classic novel, which was previously brought to the big screen in 1934 (with Robert Donat) and 1976 (with Richard Chamberlain). Pre-production is beginning immediately ahead of a July shoot in Dublin and the southeast coast of Ireland.

Richard Chamberlain will be replaced by Corbin Bernsen in "The Sound of Music" when the tour moves to Canada in September 2000. The tour will start in Toronto.

March 2000

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Richard celebrates his 66th birthday on the 31 March.

Richard will return to Hawaii after "The Sound Of Music" ends its tour at the end of May 2000. He will not remain there long before returning in July 2000 to Stockbridge, Massachusetts (U.S.A.) to star in the theatre production of "The Shadow Of Greatness."

While Richard was in Costa Mesa a display of four of his oil paintings was shown at the Sutton Place Hotel in Newport Beach. Members of the Center Stars, a center support group, along with Richard attended an exclusive showing of his original artworks in the hotel art gallery. The price for each painting was $150,000 but all remained unsold. Richard said of the reason they were so expensive: "Mainly because I don't want to sell them. They're my first babies. And now I'm in a fallow period because I'm working so much."

February 2000

Richard Chamberlain was honored on Tuesday 29 February in Los Angeles with a "Star" on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame on Hollywood Boulevard. Richard was the 2,154th star to be dedicated along the famous walkway which he unveiled in front of 300 fans wearing a maile and tuberose lei. Richard said "This takes my breath away. I am amazed. Many happy times have been spent on Hollywood Boulevard when I grew up in Los Angeles. It's the bee's knees."

Also while in Los Angeles Richard had an exhibit of his paintings at the West Hollywood gallery of Wolfryd-Selway Fine Arts.

Richard's next project will also be in the theatre. He will play the part of Allen Perry in the production of "The Shadow Of Greatness" at the Berkshire Theatre Festival in Stockbridge, Massachusetts (U.S.A) from 25 July to 12 August 2000.

January 2000

Richard Chamberlain received the Golden Arts Award for Excellence in the Performing Arts from the Golden Slipper Club Charities at the Doubletree Hotel, Broad Street at Locust, Philadelphia on 13 January. While in Philadelphia Richard also had an exhibit of his paintings at the Snyderman Gallery, Cherry Street.

Richard Chamberlain is currently on a nationwide tour of the U.S.A. with the theatre production of "The Sound Of Music" in which he plays the part of Captain von Trapp. The tour ends in late May 2000.
