Richard Chamberlain officially opened the €35 Million Carlton Hotel and Spa in Kinsale. He is staying in the hotel while filming "Strength And Honour" in Oystercreek. Around 1200 people attended the gala event.
Richard Chamberlain has joined the cast of Universal Pictures' "I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry" starring Adam Sandler and Kevin James. In the movie about two straight, single firefighters pretending to be a gay couple in order to receive domestic-partner benefits, Richard will play the head of the city council who presides over the duo's benefits hearing.
On Set Report
As Richard relaxed on the set in Kinsale, Ireland, he said he was struck by the beautiful countryside around him.
"I lived in London in the late 1960's and early 70's but did not get the chance to travel to Ireland. That is one of the reasons I took the part in this new picture - to finally come to Ireland. The rugged coastline is beautiful and there is something magical about the place. It's the same feeling I had when I first visited Hawaii many years ago. And I ended up moving there, so you never know."
"On Thursday I had my first pint of Guinness since 1970 - it was wonderful. I plan to stay on after filming ends and travel around the country as much as possible. One of the places I want to see is the graveyard in Kinsale where the bodies of Spanish sailors from a wrecked Armada ship were buried in the17th Century."Richard is in Irelend where shooting has begun on the movie "Strength and Honour."

In the episode Richard plays Arthur, a successful older man who takes up with a much younger boyfriend that he wants to make over. So he takes him to meet with "Nip/Tuck" docs Sean (Dylan Walsh) and Christian (Julian McMahon).

Richard Chamberlain at the Season Four Premiere Screening Of "Nip/Tuck" after party
(August 25, Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood, California)The U.K. premiere of Richard's mini series "Blackbeard" is on Sunday 3 September at 21:00 on Sky One.
Vinnie Jones and fellow celebrity artist Michael Madsen will join Richard Chamberlain in the Irish feature film "Strength And Honor." Michael Madsen will star as boxer Sean Kelleher, with Vinnie Jones taking the role of Smasher O'Driscoll, his arch rival and foe. Richard Chamberlain will play Denis O'Leary, Sean's boxing coach.

Hawaii Opera Theatre's summer season featuring Rodgers and Hammerstein's "The King And I", starring Richard Chamberlain, performs July 21 to 30, 2006 at Blaisdell Concert Hall. Richard takes the stage in the title role opposite Grammy-award winning soprano Sylvia McNair. It's a rare treat for Hawaii audiences to enjoy a live Broadway musical featuring Richard Chamberlain.
The film "Strength And Honor" which begins filming in September will be premiered in Cannes next year.
This month sees Richard's new mini series "Blackbeard" released on DVD Region 1 (U.S.A. & Canada) on July 11, 2006. It can be ordered from Amazon.com.

Richard will play the part of Denis O'Leary, a boxing coach, in the movie "Strength And Honor" which begins filming in September and will take 16 weeks to complete. It will be filmed in and around Cork, Ireland. The film is about a professional boxer who kills an opponent in the ring and retires. But he makes a comeback and breaks his dying wife's last wish not to box again in order to earn money to pay for an operation for his dying son.
Richard will be guest starring in an episode of "Nip/Tuck" coming this fall in the U.S.A. and later in the U.K. on Sky One. In the episode Richard plays a successful older man who takes up with a much younger boyfriend that he wants to make over. So he takes him to meet with "Nip/Tuck" docs Sean (Dylan Walsh) and Christian (Julian McMahon).
Provisional (not yet confirmed) announcment of a new film project for Richard. He will be starring in a new film shooting in Ireland in September 2006. More details to follow.

Richard plays a corrupt governor who will stop at nothing, including having his adopted daughter killed, to get what he wants in "Blackbeard," a Hallmark Channel original movie airing this Saturday. "I am a very bad guy in this and it's great fun," he said. "Playing leading men is wonderful, but the parameters are very narrow. Character work allows you so much more freedom and it's such a joy for me."
"Blackbeard" reunites Richard and Rachel Ward who plays a bawdy woman who runs a tavern, for the first time since their pairing in the acclaimed 1983 TV miniseries "The Thorn Birds."
"One of the great excitements for me in taking this job was because I knew Rachel was going to be on board," Chamberlain said. However, the duo don't have any scenes together. "We met, by sheerest chance, in the airport," Chamberlain said. "She was leaving Thailand, and I was just coming in. And it had been arranged that this might happen, and we did actually have about 15 minutes together. "It's the first time I've seen her in 25 years. And I'm here to report that she's staggeringly beautiful and nicer than ever. It was great, great to see her and catch up after all these years."Tony-nominated Broadway star Jan Mawxell recently joined the cast of Hawaii Opera Theatre's Summer production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's "The King And I" in the role of Anna Leonowens opposite Richard Chamberlain who plays the title role. She replaces Sylvia McNair who unexecptedly withdrew from the production for personal reasons.

Richard Chamberlain will star in the theatre production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's "The King And I" at the Hawaii Opera Theatre. Richard plays the title role opposite soprano Sylvia McNair and the play is directed by Martin Rabbett, Richard's partner. The play will run from Friday July 21 to Sunday 30, 2006 at Blaisdell Concert Hall.
Hawaii Opera Theatre General and Artistic Director Henry Akina said "We are thrilled to star Mr. Chamberlain in this production. It's a great and rare treat for Hawaii audiences to enjoy a live Broadway musical featuring a Hollywood Movie star."This Rodgers and Hammerstein musical is based on the story of Anna and the King of Siam by Margaret Landon. Jordan Segundo (American Idol) plays Lun Tha and Kristian Lei plays Tuptim. Musicians of the Honolulu Symphony will perform the live 30-piece orchestra music with guest artist Michael Ching.

Richard's film "Petulia" will be released on DVD (Region 1) on June 20.
Richard's film "The Towering Inferno" will get another DVD (Region 1) re-release on May 9, with a two-disc Special Edition featuring many extras. You can pre-order a copy from Amazon.com.
The new series of "Huslte" starts the week begining 4 March. Exact date of Richard's episode will be published at a later date but each episode will be shown on Friday's at 9:00pm on BBC1.
Another date has been confirmed for the "On Golden Pond" tour starring Richard. Tickets don't go on sale until May, 2006.

Richard attended the Hallmark Channel Presentation press tour at the Ritz Carlton in Pasadena, California, on Thursday 12th January.
Richard's new mini series "Blackbeard" will be released on DVD Region 1 (U.S.A. & Canada) on March 7, 2006 (now re-scheduled). It should be available to pre-order from Amazon.com soon. Synopsis for "Blackbeard": In the Golden Age of Piracy, at the dawn of the 18th century, Blackbeard stood out among the lawless rogues as the most fearsome and notorious seafarer of them all. He killed for the reputation, and his reputation has become legend. Now, for the first time, comes the true story of pirate Edward Teach, the man who terrorized the seas.
This coming year we can look forward to several new projects that Richard will be involved with. In the U.K. there will be the premiere of the "Will & Grace" episode guest starring Richard showing on Living TV around March 2006 (shown in October 2005 in the U.S.A.), together with the world premiere of the "Hustle" episode in which Richard guest starred and that was filmed in London late last year. The first two seasons of "Hustle" have been sold to an American tv channel and will be shown this year. Richard's episode is in the third series. Also the premiere of the mini series "Blackbeard" in June 2006 in the U.S.A.
