"Scrooge" the musical has been cancelled at the following venues: Palace Theatre, Louisville, KY, Tuesday, November 23 through Sunday, November 28, 2004, and at the Masonic Temple Theatre, Detroit, MI, Tuesday, December 7 through Sunday, December 12, 2004, because of disappointing ticket sales.

Richard will be guest narrator for the "The Gilded Age: From Rags to Riches" being performed at Ozawa Hall, Lenox, MA, (USA) on Saturday, May 29 at 6:00pm.
Dvorák, Mahler, and Tchaikovsky paid visits to our young nation as Wharton, Twain, and Henry James chronicled the period's cultural currents and fashions in their novels. A celebration of the Berkshire link to this glittering age (1880-1920) when America began to assert musical independence from Europe, and its first families built their palatial "cottages." An all-star evening featuring Dvorák's American Quartet, Mahler songs, Tchaikovsky's Andante for Strings, and works by Zez Confrey, Amy Beach, the best of ragtime-and readings weaving it all together.

On May 27, 2004 The Discovery Fund For Eye Research is launching its 4th annual "Seeing the Stars," celebrity charity eyewear and memorabilia auction on eBay. Richard Chamberlain has generously donated a signed photo, a pair of his sunglasses, two signed books and a certificate card of authenticity for auction to benefit the Discovery Fund's medical research and patient education programs for Macular Degeneration, Keratoconus, Diabetic Retinopathy and Ocular Herpes. Richard Chamberlain will present a public talk at Pomona College on Monday, April 5. The subject will be Richard's recently published autobiography "Shattered Love: A Memoir." The talk will be held at 12:15pm in Lyman Hall, Thatcher Music Building, 340 N. College Ave., Claremont, U.S.A.. A book signing will follow in front of the Pomona College Museum of Art. Richard will not be doing "Chicago" in New York after the current actor Norm Lewis departs the production. Christopher Sieber will take over the role of Billy Flynn from March 22 through May 2.

February 2004

Richard will be presenting an award at the The Screen Actors Guild Awards 2004 at the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center on Sunday February 22. It will be telecast on TNT at 8pm ET/PT. U.K. viewers can watch the proceedings "Live From The Red Carpet" at 9pm on E! and on Monday February 23 at 9pm on Living. Click here for pictures.

Richard will be narrating another Japanese documentary called "Japan: Memoirs of a Secret Empire" which premieres in May 2004 on PBS. Episode One: 'The Way Of The Samurai', Episode Two: 'The Will Of The Shogun' and Episode Three: 'The Return Of The Barbarians'.

In a interview with Norm Lewis who currently plays the part of Billy Flynn in the Broadway production of Kander and Ebb's "Chicago", he mentioned that he thought Richard Chamberlain was taking over the part after he left on March 21. A spokesperson for the musical could not confirm the casting so it is just a rumor at the moment! On Broadway, Chicago plays the Ambassador Theatre, 219 W. 49th Street.

"The Thorn Birds" has now been released on DVD Region 1. Included on the discs is a newly filmed documentary "The Thorn Birds: Old Friends New Stories" which features interviews with the cast and crew reminiscing about the mini-series. Features interviews with Richard Chamberlain, Rachel Ward, Bryan Brown and David Wolper (executive producer). This featurette covers many aspects of the production including casting choices, locations, music, and the romance between Ward and Brown. The feature runs for 24 minutes 37 seconds.
